On
1 April 1973, I began my banking journey at the Penang Branch — a young staff stepping into the world of finance with little experience but
much determination. That first year was filled with learning,
discipline, and adjustment. Banking then was very different — manual
ledgers, typewriters, long hours, and strict procedures. Every task
required patience and precision. It was the foundation that shaped my
work ethic for the decades to come.
Looking back, 1973 was not
just the beginning of a career — it was the start of a lifelong journey
of growth, friendships, and dedication.
