1974 marked my second year at the Penang Branch — a year of growing confidence and deeper responsibility. Having settled into the routines of banking life, I was no longer the “new boy,” but someone beginning to understand the systems, the discipline, and the expectations of the profession.
Those were the days of manual postings, careful balancing, and learning directly from senior officers. Every day was practical training. Every mistake was a lesson. Every achievement built quiet confidence.

1974 - At Malaysian Buddhist Meditation Centre (MBMC), 355 Jalan Masjid Negeri, 11600 Green Lane, Penang. A Thai Buddhist meditation centre started in 1982. It is affiliated to the Mahasi Meditation Centre in Yangon, and provides a retreat as well as meditation classes. Behind me is the BMBC under construction.
