1993 - Year 21st in Kamunting Branch

1993 – 3rd Taiping Inter-Bank & Finance Volleyball Tournament ’93.

1993 was one of those years when inter-bank sports truly meant something. The 3rd Taiping Inter-Bank & Finance Volleyball Tournament ’93 wasn’t just a competition—it was a gathering of familiar faces from banks and finance companies around Taiping, all coming together with the same goal: play hard, represent your institution with pride, and enjoy the spirit of sportsmanship.

The volleyball court became a place where office routines were left behind. Ties and office wear were replaced with jerseys and sports shoes, and colleagues transformed into teammates. Every serve, spike, and save drew cheers from the sidelines, while friendly rivalries pushed everyone to give their best. Matches were intense, but always respectful—win or lose, the camaraderie stayed strong.

What made the tournament special wasn’t only the results, but the atmosphere. Laughter between games, light-hearted teasing among rival teams, and shared meals after long matches created memories that lasted far beyond the final scoreboard. It was fitness, teamwork, and friendship rolled into one event.

Looking back today, the 1993 tournament stands as a reminder of a simpler time—when inter-bank sports were about connection, unity, and the joy of playing together. A proud chapter in Taiping’s sporting history, and a memory that still brings a smile whenever it’s mentioned.

1993 – A Visit to Kuala Sepetang Fishing Village

In 1993, our visit to Kuala Sepetang Fishing Village was made special by an invitation from one of our bank customers—a fisherman from the village himself. It wasn’t a planned tour or official function, but a genuine gesture of friendship that reflected the close relationships built beyond the banking counter.

That short journey from Taiping felt like stepping into a different world. The calm coastal air, wooden houses on stilts, and fishing boats resting along the jetty painted a picture of a life shaped by the sea. Being welcomed by the villagers, especially through someone we knew and trusted, made the experience feel personal and sincere.

Our host shared stories of daily life as a fisherman—early mornings, the changing tides, and the hard work behind every catch. Watching the boats come in and seeing fresh seafood straight from the sea gave us a new appreciation of their livelihood. Conversations were simple, unhurried, and filled with warmth, just like the village itself.

The visit wasn’t just about seeing a fishing village; it was about connection. It showed how relationships built through work could grow into mutual respect and friendship. Looking back today, that 1993 visit to Kuala Sepetang remains a meaningful memory—one that reflects trust, hospitality, and a time when human connections mattered just as much as business.
